5 nature outings to do in winter with your family in the Vosges

Today, the Tchao Tchao editors are on the lookout for good places to spend some quality time with your family. There's plenty of natural scenery and mountains on the agenda, so strap on your boots and let's get adventurous.

Lake Gérardmer

Granted, the name isn't exactly sexy, but the scenery is worth the detour!  Lac de Gérardmer is a lake around which you can take a 5km walk, ideal for discovering the area and taking time to observe the landscape and surrounding mountains. In winter, the setting is sumptuous, with snow-covered chalets that feel like a postcard.
A real wow experience for the whole family.

Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park

Do you know why the nature park bears this name? The Ballons Regional Nature Park takes its name from the shape of the mountain tops, which are rounded, so they look like balloons floating in the sky, hence the name.
The park covers an area of 2921 km2 (that's huge) and extends over several communes. Numerous activities are regularly organized for young and old alike to admire the scenery and learn a little more about the animals that can be found there and the vegetation that grows there.

Lac Blanc in the Vosges

Imagine a great lake surrounded by green mountains and mysterious forests. The lake water is so clear that you can see the reflections of the sky and trees all around. People come here to enjoy the calm and beauty of nature. There are hiking trails all around the lake, perfect for a relaxing family stroll. And if you're a thrill-seeker, there are even trails for mountain biking with incredible views over the lake.

In winter, when snow covers the mountains, it's a magical place for skiing and snowshoeing. In short, Lac Blanc des Vosges is like a living postcard, where nature meets you for an unforgettable adventure in all its simplicity.

Château d'Épinal and its park

Castles are often great ideas for family outings. The castle towers offer panoramic views of the town and surrounding mountains, creating a picturesque backdrop. The gardens surrounding the château add a touch of romance, ideal for a peaceful stroll.

Whether you're a lover of history, breathtaking views or simply looking for a charming place to stay, Château d'Épinal promises a captivating getaway in the heart of the region.

A fun way for kids to learn about history!

La Chèvrerie du Brabant

The Brabant goat farm is an excellent family activity. On the program, the goatherd accompanies us throughout the visit to give us explanations about the farm, the animals and the cheese produced. First, we have the chance to discover the goats in the meadow and admire the mountain scenery, then we are led back to the sheepfold to pick up and drag the goats. An activity that will leave a lasting impression and make wonderful memories.
