- How do I know if my vehicle is compatible?
To find out if your vehicle is compatible, you can test our Tchao Tchao compatibility engine here .
If your vehicle does not appear in this list, we may not have had the opportunity to test it!
You can therefore take manual measurements to see if one of our Van Kits is compatible:
- Does installing a TCHAO TCHAO kit require me to convert my vehicle to a VASP?
Approval as a Véhicule Aménagé à Usage Spécial (VASP) is required for vehicles whose modifications are fixed and significantly alter the vehicle's initial characteristics, as specified in the Highway Code and DREAL (Direction Régionale de l'Environnement, de l'Aménagement et du Logement) regulations. This transformation is often irreversible, and requires a thorough inspection to ensure compliance with safety standards.
The TCHAO TCHAO kit, designed to be totally removable, enables a van to be temporarily transformed into a minivan without any permanent modifications to the vehicle's structure or chassis. Because of this removability, the installation of a TCHAO TCHAO kit does not result in the reclassification of the van as a VASP. So you can enjoy the benefits of a converted minivan while retaining your vehicle's original classification. It's important to note that when the kit is installed, the vehicle must still meet current safety requirements, but there's no need to go through the VASP homologation process.

- Do you have a fitting kit for extended minivans (such as Kangoo maxi, berlingot XL...)?
To fit out your extended recreational vehicle like the Kangoo maxi, Grand Kangoo, Berlingo XL or Volswagen Caddy maxi, you can add the "extended" option to our Tchao Tchao Micro Camper fit-out kit.
It adds storage and 30 cm of length to the initial kit!
- Are Tchao Tchao kits delivered assembled?
Tchao tchao Kits are delivered directly to your home via a specialized carrier (GEODIS), and all the boxes are already assembled! All you have to do is install them in your vehicle, and off you go on your adventure!
- What are the delivery times for Tchao Tchao van, minivan and car conversion kits?
Today we have a delivery time of 6 to 7 weeks. This is the time needed for our team to carefully manufacture the kits 😉
- How to secure the kit so that it doesn't move?
Our Micro Camper and Van Kits come with one or two straps that attach to the vehicle's tie-down rings.
We've also made an additional wedge for the 1-seater kit to reinforce its immobility at the rear of the car. The sleeper kit folds into a box, so no special system is required.
- How to go from 1 to 2 persons and vice versa? [VIDEO]
Exactly, and here's the video of the switch from the 2-seater kit to the 1-seater!
- Are foams supplied with the kit?
Exactly! Our vehicle conversion kit includes the wooden modules and associated foams which are high resilience (HR35) for optimum comfort at night!
- Do you do custom fittings?
Our kits can be adapted to over 140 vehicle models, thanks to standard layouts. We have chosen not to offer customized solutions.
- Can I test the Tchao Tchao layout kit in my vehicle?
It's perfectly possible on van and miniVan Kits. The fridge is installed at the rear of the kit in place of a drawer. Here's a demo of how to install the fridge in a Van Kit:

All our drawers are fitted with locking keys, enabling them to remain closed during journeys and open when stationary if the floor is uneven!
- Can I rent a Tchao Tchao layout kit?
Rental will be on the agenda in 2025! Victims of our own success, we had to give up this feature due to lack of stock! Totally convinced by this model, we'll be introducing it next year!

What modifications should I make to my car?
Simply fold down the rear seat, or remove it if it doesn't fold down.
Is the kit compatible with my car registration?
YES. You can transport the kit in compliance with national and European regulations because it is completely removable.
My car is not on the list, what should I do?
You can consult the page of compatible cars. If you have any doubt, please contact us.
Are the kits guaranteed?
Yes, the kits are guaranteed for 5 years. We don't use glue in the furniture assembly process, which means we can easily replace any damaged parts...for a sustainable, less expensive approach.
In addition, each piece is varnished on both sides to protect the wood.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes, it is possible to pay in two instalments by bank transfer. On the "payment" page, choose the payment method by bank transfer and make a deposit of 50% to validate the order. The balance will be paid at the time of delivery.
How long does the installation take?
About 15 minutes for the first installation and about 5 minutes for the following ones.
What is the weight of the kit?
65kg for the "Micro Camper" kit and 50kg for the "Car" kit and 85kg for the "Van" kit
How does the delivery work?
The kit is stored on a pallet and protected by suitable, eco-responsible packaging. The pallet is entrusted to a specialized carrier, who makes an appointment with you to arrange a delivery time. Delivery times are approximately 1 to 3 days in metropolitan France.
How does the first installation work?
The first installation always goes very smoothly :-) An installation manual is supplied with the kit to guide you step by step. Video tutorials are also available. Finally, the Tchao Tchao technical team is at your disposal by e-mail (info@tchao-tchao.com) and by telephone 02 52 35 25 37 to answer any questions you may have.
