Installing the bed in a converted van
Once the spotlight has been shone, the next step is to set up the sleeping accommodation in the converted van.
And here, thanks to my super colleague Axelle who found me some curtains. So we set off with 3 curtains that we put up on the sides and back of the vehicle, the only problem being that there weren't enough for the front... We tried the towel solution, but it didn't work.
Result: plaid solution validated, it will be used as plaid and curtains during this roadtrip, top one product for two uses.
After making up the bed, we're ready for a good night's sleep, and we're hoping for a pretty view when we wake up in the morning!
Waking up in a converted van
The result of this first night in a converted van?
If I'm being completely honest, it wasn't the best night of my life: I woke up repeatedly, it rained even though the weather forecast was good (that's the scam - never believe what people tell you when they say the weather's going to be good in Brittany!) and, above all, the negative point is that we're still on a slope, which doesn't really make sleeping any easier (hence the repeated waking up).
But I can still take some positives from it :
- The curtains are top-notch and very blackout (useful for covering the first rays of sun).
- Feel safe inside the dokker converted into a converted van
- We have a sublime view of the sea

Second day in a converted van
Discover new spots in a converted van
Today we headed for the island of Bréhat, and it was a wonderful discovery, falling under the spell of this wild, natural island. We covered a good number of kilometers to visit the island and enjoy the scenery, and it's fair to say that our legs were not spared 👟
Eating inside the converted van
Tonight, we're a little tired from the walk, so we decide to do some shopping and eat inside the converted van. To be able to eat inside the converted van, we simply removed the sheet covering the van's mattress so that we could separate the foams and take out the table. Honestly, I was worried that it might be a bit awkward to have to undo the bed to get to the table, but it's done pretty quickly and it's just a habit to get into!
On the menu tonight, pesto pasta with cheese and ham, a real treat 😋
💡Tip: To make organization easier, prepare a list of meals to make during your roadtrip, it can help.
Third day of roadtrip in the converted van
On this last day of our roadtrip, we had breakfast in Perros Guirrec and then headed for Paimpol to visit Beauport Abbey. And it was a real treat - I really recommend you visit this abbey if you're ever in the area. We opted to continue our walk up to the cliffs at the "pointe de la tour" and the little port of Plouah called Gwin Zegak.
What makes this port special?
The harbor is made up of piles (wooden posts) used to moor pleasure boats. This mooring technique dates back to the 5th century and has been used in the port of Gwin Zegak since the 19th century.

End of this trip in a converted van
On the way back, we decide to stop for pasta with pesto, but we run into a few difficulties... The slight seaside breeze makes it a little difficult to cook the pasta, and we're missing a folding screen (we'll have to add it to our to-do list for next time). 💨
Brittany roadtrip favorites :
- The town of Ploumanac'h with its large rocks
- The island of Bréhat with its wild nature
- Beauport Abbey
